Barnaby Terry

Barnaby is a senior and respected figure in the UK venture capital industry and since 1994 has specialised in investing in early stage businesses in high growth markets initially at 3i, where he was a senior investment executive, then as a director of Elderstreet and now in his own right. 

At 3i he invested in some of Europe’s most successful technology businesses including Content Technologies which was acquired by Baltimore Technologies for $1b.  In 1999 he co-founded Elderstreet’s top quartile performing institutional software and services venture fund and in 2003 also became responsible for Elderstreet’s retail funds taking its VCT from 3rd quartile to 1st quartile and the number 1 ranking in the UK market.

Barnaby is a graduate of Imperial College and holds an MBA from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, participating in the Wharton exchange program, and has a background in enterprise sales in the data communications industry. 

He has considerable NXD experience and during his career has made investments in well over 50 companies.  He sits on the board of Kimble Applications Ltd, a software as a service business, and is also an expert mentor for Jacana Venture Partnership which invests in and supports Growth Capital VC Managers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
